Welcome To "The Aerospace Assault On Planet Earth"
Violent weather patterns, El Niño and La Niña
Weather patterns, El Niño/La Niña, hurricanes/typhoons, wild fires, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and the greenhouse effect have changed considerably in the last 25 years. Let's go back to the 1960's and 1970's, recall that during the month of April, in the United States and throughout the northern hemisphere there was always substantial rainfall. Can anyone recall April rains in the past 35 years? The weather patterns have drastically changed. Currently, yearly rainfall is down about 28%. The southwestern United States were parched and without rain from the months of February through August in the year 2000. The raging wildfires in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Washington, and Wyoming also in the year 2000 were "unprecedented" in their lengths and intensities. Never before had raging fires of this magnitude consumed 4.1 million acres in 11 western states. The total acreage destroyed in the U.S. by fire in the year 2000 was 5.7 million acres......more on Page 4
The heat wave in the Northeastern and Midwestern US from July 12-20, 1995, caused an estimated death toll of 1000 persons. In Chicago, IL, the nine-day heat wave killed......more on Page 5
Now let’s discuss floods and mudslides; the opposite extremes of fires. From February 18 to 20, 1997, torrential rains and mudslides in the Andes Mountains of Peru cost 300 people their lives. And unseasonable rainfall triggered massive......more on Page 5
After the Challenger disaster in 1986, NASA supposedly imposed a five year moratorium on launches. That period actually lasted from January 28, 1986 through September 29, 1988. During this 32 months, global......more on Page 6
Beginning with the launching of Space Shuttle Columbia on April 12, 1981 through the Soyuz-FG/FREGAT launch on December 14, 2007, I will to impress upon you how all of the above are not coincidences, but REALITY!......more on Page 9
Air pollution can be attributed to many sources such as greenhouse gases. People throughout the world put large amounts of these gases unnaturally into the air, which in turn creates another pollution problem. The majority of the blame needs to be directed towards......more on Page 11
What is ozone and when was it discovered
In 1930, an English scientist named Sydney Chapman attempted to explain how ozone was formed and destroyed in the atmosphere. It was called the “Chapman mechanism.” The scientist suggested that ordinary.....more on Page 14
The stratosphere extends from about 8 km (4.9 miles) at the poles, 17 km (10.5 miles) at the equator, to about 50 km (31 miles) above the Earth’s surface. The total amount of ozone in the atmosphere would, if compressed to the pressure at the Earth’s surface, be a layer about one eighth of an inch thick. This is about the thickness of an American silver dollar coin......more on Page 17
